South Loop Market opened in summer of 2009 by brothers, Jamil and Samir Kanan, who had been residents in the neighborhood since 2007. The concept of the market was born after the Kanan brothers grew frustrated with always having to drive to the big-box grocer, and having to wait in long lines just to pick up a handful of items. Convinced that many of their neighbors shared the same frustration, the Kanan brothers decided a local market was simply a necessity. Today there are 3 locations throughout the South Loop, each providing the local community the opportunity to purchase quality basic, essential, and specialty items in a convenient and welcoming environment.
To offer the South Loop neighborhood a central location that provides a wide selection of products in a friendly, convenient environment.
Grocery - Here you will find everything and anything; from staple products and brands, to specialty items that you don't see often. You will also find a great selection of organic and natural products, many from local suppliers.
Delicatessen - We proudly and exclusively carry Boar's Head Deli meats and cheeses. (All Boar's Head meats and cheeses are Gluten Free!)
Sandwich Shop - Using only Boar's Head meats and cheeses, fresh bread delivered daily, and the finest ingredients available, our sandwiches have become a staple in the South Loop. We take great pride in satisfying our customers as each sandwich is “made your way” and made to order.
Produce - Fresh produce is delivered daily to all of our locations. We take our time shopping the local produce markets to ensure that the freshest and highest quality produces is delivered.
Basics - Here you will also find our shelves stocked with many of your everyday household items such as cleaning supplies, house wares, personal needs, and pet food and supplies.
Wine, Beer, Spirits - Our wine buyer tastes, and searches, for only the most unique and quality wine. As a result, our collection consists of hundreds of vintages locally and worldwide. The same process is used in selecting our beer, which consists of over 300 different brews from all around the world. In fact, we have actually been told on more than one occasion that some national chain beverage depots ask their customers try South Loop Market when searching for some of the hardest to find craft beers.
